Aborigine Scarecrow

The first project in Digital Illustration was to create a portrait of an assigned superhero or villain. I got Scarecrow, and I decided to go with the Batman Arkham Asylum version. The portrait began as a sketch that was scanned into Adobe Illustrator, and the pen tool and scatter brushes were used to complete the piece. Lots and lots of shapes in this one.

The Towel Mike

So, long story. I love Regretsy.com and visit pretty much everyday. Last year, the artists in the community collaborated to create a tarot deck featuring their original art. The project was funded on Kickstarter.com, and proceeds were given to charity. Cool, right? Anyway, Towel Mike was a favorite meme of the site. It started with a guy named Mike, and a towel, drunk picture texting, and so on and so forth. Regretsy held a contest for people to create the Towel Mike tarot card, and the winner would have their art featured in the deck! This was my entry. I referenced some really awesome traditional tarot card art, and this is a reinvisioned King of Wands.

Recently, I had them printed as postcards to be included in the goody bags given out to people at a Regretsy meet-up event, and people seemed to like them. This was done in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator CS5.
